To its credit, the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) has been transparent. However, WMF has not found any solid solutions to remedy gender inequality fast enough – at least compared to the large numbers of women in the U.S. population and labor force.

Shame they don't address the 'assuming all English-speakers are from the U.S.' bias, but instead add to it...

It's worse than that. I think they're saying that only people from the USA are notable.
* Women are half the USA’s population.
* Women comprise half the American labor force.

To be fair, "women are half X's population" applies to practically any country (obvious exceptions like the Vatican aside).

Donna Strickland (T-H-L) is attributed to "Wikipedia" in that piece, and not directly to him.
