The issue appears to be centered around promotional, copyrighted images being uploaded onto Commons, which only accepts free images. I don't believe that this is about politics.

In the real world, sometimes one's perception of reality can become as important as the reality being observed. For example, Jimmy Wales perceived that SOPA was a threat to Wikipedia, and so SOPA became a threat to Wikipedia.

Call me stubborn, but I want to wait until we've exhausted attempts to regain control of the "Wikipediocracy" Facebook and Twitter nomenclature, and I haven't even begun to try with Twitter's management. (I have started the process on Facebook, however.)

Sure. We can begin to build a following though, and then, when it's time, just rename the account. You get to keep your followers when you rename.
