I don't think that really factors into it at all. Musk certainly doesn't like people saying mean things about him anywhere—if there's anything this saga has amply demonstrated, it's that his skin is exceptionally thin—but he's also not really smart enough to have that angle. At best he's a useful idiot for people bankrolling him who would like Twitter destroyed, but every move and backtrack and advancement he's made makes it seem like he said he'd buy it, tried to back out when he realized he would have to, and now is just running it like how he'd want. If it combusts he'll just blame everyone else and follow the Trump playbook.ScotFinnRadish wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 1:01 amWhat's the likelihood that Musk and his billionaire pals don't care if Twitter tanks because they're successfully destroying a large scale forum for community discussion. They have so much money that it doesn't actually matter to them, so why not take out a place that influences public opinion on a way they don't like?

Twitter is fucked.
Twitter has lost 50 of its top 100 advertisers since Elon Musk took over, report says
They aren't coming back and that's a structural problem for the books.

Re: Elon buys Twitter for $44 billion
Well, that's your classic "assume false premise, draw false conclusion" setup. "Most" people don't believe the MSM is biased, though most people probably think the MSM is lazy and easily fooled (or if they're paying attention, "over-sensitive to right-wing accusations of bias to the point of stupidity"). And if Wikipedia editors actually were "working hand-in-hand" with them, WP would probably run a lot more smoothly, and the articles would be a lot more readable too.
The fact that Mr. Musk appeals to Jimbo just about every time the subject comes up also shows how frighteningly out-of-touch he is.

Re: Elon buys Twitter for $44 billion
Trust in the MSM remains at very close to record lows. Most of Wikipedia's "current thing" articles almost exclusively use MSM as sources.
The Twitter Files Volume II are dropping now, and Musk announced that James A. Baker (government attorney) (T-H-L) has been "exited" from Twitter (ironically enough it is not noted on his BLP that he has been working as Deputy General Counsel for Twitter).

Elon's post has resulted in a massive brigade of the AfD discussion Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Twitter_Files_Investigation (T-H-L), it's so bad that dozens of off-topic comments have had to be moved to the talkpage. While I think that Wikipedia is relatively resistant to offsite campaigns, AfD discussions are in my opinion something that it is quite vulnerable to offsite canvassing, as the canvassing often attracts Wikipedia regulars who are much less obviously canvassed than an IP user or a brand new/ infrequently active account.

Re: Elon buys Twitter for $44 billion
Where to start…
1. Twitter Files probably needs its own separate page from Laptop story… there will be more “reveals”.
2. Wikipedia will become irrelevant & obsolete if it takes a censorship stance. People are already aware that it’s a publicly maintained site with potentially inaccurate or biased info… censorship has no place here in the global commons. 72.66.79.219 (talk) 20:26, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
You're argument breaks down in multiple ways. The idea that you implicitly have about notability should be made explicitly, please do so.
In fact the main issues that the Taibbi's report is trying to deliver is the lack of credibility by the corporate journalism. Which they completely failed to do and what is the independent journalism supposed and trusted to do. 185.135.96.198 (talk) 19:21, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
In fact Wikipedia is built based on this foundation, i.e. the freedom, universality, accessibility, of knowledge and ideas.
I suggest all of you, please, take a some time to think about this. Take it out of the your political lens, think of it on isolation as a fundamental idea that toke our society to this day.
Give it some time, and don't delete it. We clear our heads and talk again after 30 days. 185.135.96.198 (talk) 19:25, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
Evidence of collusion between Political Parties and a significant social media network is clearly noteworthy. Jimmy zed0 (talk) 21:35, 6 December 2022 (UTC) — Jimmy zed0 (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.

Anyone writing this sort of thing has to recognize how deranged and utterly disconnected from reality that take is, right? For starters, Wikipedia editors can't even agree whether to capitalize the word "into" in "Star Trek: Into Darkness".
