Germans made 200 000 links disappear from Google

Unread post by Poetlister » Sat Mar 03, 2018 10:42 am

Naked celebrities, the past of politicians, accused in murder cases: Google presents a report on the right to be forgotten. Germans often have unpleasant search results removed. ... There has also been criticism of the ECJ's decision to oblige Google to do this. It jeopardizes Google's function as an online archive and could thus restrict the freedom of information. Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales criticised the decision as "ridiculous" and "bizarre". After all, articles about a person are likely to remain on the net, only links would have to disappear.
Jimbo could have added that all the information that these people don't want could be in their Wikipedia articles.

Suddeutsche Zeitung (in German).

Jimbo should write a book about this called "My Struggle" (with a foreword by Mike Godwin) and have it translated into German.
