Creak, squeal, crunch
Or perhaps rather "mechanical straining noises".
There's a story in Galaxies Like Grains of Sand, a fictional future history by Brian Aldiss, that mentions someone passing through a field where two huge, rusting industrial robots are still locked in deathless combat, barely moving, many long centuries after the conclusion of a robot war.
That's how I felt when I saw User talk:MediaWiki default (T-H-L).

My question, to this esteemed Wiki community, is this: Do you think that a Wiki could successfully generate a useful encyclopedia? -- JimboWales
Yes, but in the end it wouldn't be an encyclopedia. It would be a wiki. -- WardCunningham (Jan 2001)

Best topic title contender.
Also, nostalgic to see Betacommand (T-C-L)*. Betacommandbot was one of the first things to really anger me in Wikipedia...
*Now of course banned user Δ (T-C-L). I like to call him "Tringle."

Stop by #wikipedia-en then, he's still there.

If he's still "participating" on IRC, then he must (still!) be using socks to edit WP somewhere.Hex wrote:Stop by #wikipedia-en then, he's still there.
If you like to look at rampant stupidity, here you go:
Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Betacommand_blocked_for_sockpuppetry (T-H-L)
Look at the "IRC channel" section. He's probably still running a secret channel today.
