Re: Foundation board member James Heilman is forking Wikipedia
Just about everything Doc James has said on ANI for the past two days about mdwiki and Colin's account on it has been quickly proved to be false. How am I supposed to trust this site as a font of medical knowledge if the person running it can't stop lying?

Really you shouldnt trust any Dr tied in to a US-style medical system. Hopelessly compromised.Konveyor Belt wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 12:48 pmJust about everything Doc James has said on ANI for the past two days about mdwiki and Colin's account on it has been quickly proved to be false. Hence US-Style. I could perhaps have said 'insurance based' to be more accurate. The problems with insurance-funded healthcare are widely documented, that its free at the point of access (as I believe Canada's is?) only really just makes it better than the US system, but it doesnt eliminate the basic problems.
But by his obsession with drug prices, I would have had him down as practicing in the US.

I’m not sure exactly what you are saying here. Could you expand it?Anroth wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 4:28 pmHence US-Style. I could perhaps have said 'insurance based' to be more accurate. Canada's national health system isn't a US model.Anroth wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 4:28 pmHence US-Style. I could perhaps have said 'insurance based' to be more accurate. https://healthsystemsfacts.org/national ... financing/The principal source of health system finance is taxation by the provincial, territorial and federal governments: general taxation provides well over two thirds of all financing for health (Table 3.2). Since medicare services (hospital, diagnostic, medical care, designated surgical-dental services and inpatient drug therapies) are free at the point of use, they are entirely financed by government revenues mainly at the provincial level. In 2018, national estimates suggest public finance made up 90% of hospital spending, and over 98% of physician spending (CIHI, 2019a). The sources of funding for other health goods and services are derived from a combination of taxation, OOP [Out Of Pocket] payments and private health insurance. Compulsory (or social) insurance forms the smallest portion of health funding and is largely used for health benefits for workplace injuries or ailments available under workers’ compensation schemes in PTs (see section 3.3.2).

AAroads will remain active longer simply because it was founded by people who already obsessively edit about roads. It's still unclear to me what purpose it serves though. I picked out a page from the recent changes and compared it to the Wikipedia equivalent and they're near identical.Ron Lybonly wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 2:25 amLooks busier:Vigilant wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 1:46 amNext up: RoadsWIki or whatever that autism factory is.Ron Lybonly wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 1:33 amIt looks like mdwiki has lost steam. 50 most recent changes in 30 days:

The purpose is to not have to bother with things like notability and sourcing guidelines.Konveyor Belt wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 4:13 pm[...]
