A new study in nature:
Douglas Guilbeault, Solène Delecourt, Tasker Hull, Bhargav Srinivasa Desikan, Mark Chu & Ethan Nadler: Online images amplify gender bias
The study compares gender bias in images to gender bias in texts. The result is that the gender bias is far stronger in images than in texts. What's more, the psychological effects seem to be stronger. The study mostly concentrates on google news and google images, but they also tested this on Wikipedia and unsurprisingly the effects are strong there, too. Wikipedia relevant graphs are on pp. 12-13 (there is very little about Wikipedia in the text).
