Yes, the SPI page says "Claiming to be Mark Bourrie (whether they are or not) and making legal threats equals a block even if they're not actually a sock."The Garbage Scow wrote:I also noticed that his GoldLilydog (T-C-L) sock was blocked July 1.

Congratulations to Mr Bourrie on winning an award (the RBC Taylor Prize (T-H-L)) for his latest book!

That won't get him an unblock. Being notable is no defence. I believe that one of the early members of this site has a Wikipedia article but is blocked there.Giraffe Stapler wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 3:15 amCongratulations to Mr Bourrie on winning an award (the RBC Taylor Prize (T-H-L)) for his latest book!

Edits are supposed to be assessed by their quality, not who made them, though of course people frequently revert sock edits even if that damages the encyclopaedia by restoring errors or vandalism. It can't be denied that this edit was an important update to the article. The Garbage Scow wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 6:08 pmHe made sure this fact was added to his article via a sock

Sure, no issues with the edit itself. Just noting that he's likely still socking. Unless it was one of us and not Bourrie?Poetlister wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 9:14 pmEdits are supposed to be assessed by their quality, not who made them, though of course people frequently revert sock edits even if that damages the encyclopaedia by restoring errors or vandalism. I suspect it was just a random Canadian. Bourrie's socks tend to be more obvious. Aside from everything else, he seems to have written a well-received book that got great reviews and won an award. Nothing wrong with having that in his Wikipedia article. The Garbage Scow wrote: ↑Thu Mar 19, 2020 2:10 pmSure, no issues with the edit itself. Just noting that he's likely still socking. He hid his twitter account again after this yesterday.

He made the right choice to do so, despite (cough) blocking me afterwards.

His old nemesis Warren Kinsella is still celebrating his victory over Maxime Bernier, (T-H-L), who Spoonkeymonkey was representing.
He also appeared on Rachel Marsden's podcast last April and talked about censorship for an hour. I didn't watch it, so I don't know if the subject of wikipedia came up.

He used to edit war her article in defense of her honour being besmirched by the mention of her tangles with the law.
