Musk is paying far-right twitter influencers.

Accused sex trafficker and mob figure Andrew Tate says Musk gave him US$20,000.

Meanwhile, laid off twitter workers were stiffed US $500,000,000 in severance pay.
Who does this guy think he is, Trump?

Eh. Knowing tech companies, they totally have a huge freezer full of chilling effects to prevent people from doing this.

Now he is killing the birds, and changing the company name to "X".

I would speculate about what comes next, but I don't want to give him any ideas.

Just cosmetic changes.
1. Replace bird logo with X
2. Change background colour to red, but keep black X logo on white circle
3. At the halfway point of each arm of the X logo, rotate 90 degrees clockwise

Musk has had a bizarre obsession with the letter X for over 20 years, including trying to rebrand PayPal to X.com in 2000.

He is a very odd man.

Ok, I'm like 60% sure that that was actually Χ, as in "Chi Ash Archangel". Right? I'm not misremembering that?

Not sure why I bothered using brain space to remember how to pronounce the kid's name, anyway.

EDIT: Oh, unless you're referring to Vivian. She changed her name to Vivian. So it doesn't start with X anymore. Granted, I'm probably the only person who actually knew anything about Elon Musk's children who have normal names, so you probably weren't talking about her.

I”m leaning toward the one that sounds like the gutter Scandihoovian for “shit.”

The Xeet thing is a hoax, but Elon seemed to suggest a tweet would be henceforth referred to as an X, which seems even dumber than a xeet.

I can see twitter now without logging in, but everybody's feeds are not in chronological order. For example, the tweet at the top of Rick Wilson's feed is from Aug 8, 2022, then the next is from Jan 6, 2021, etc. There;s nothing from 2023.

I finally had to shut down my Twitter account. I've had enough of Elon's incompetence. I am on Mastadon which lets me see replica posts of some accounts I follow but can't interact. I also started a Threads account since I already have Instagram. Threads is supposed to join the "fediverse" at some point which will allow interaction with people on Mastadon and other places. I know people leaving twitter are going to many different places for whatever reason. Some prefer Mastadon because it's decentralized which supposedly prevents it from a crazy billionaire ever taking it over. All I know is many "influencers" are posting their stuff in like 20 different places now. That must be exhausting.

Twitter neighbours complain of lit-up ‘X’ sign working at high intensity Personally Ming's solution would be a trebuchet hurling Teslas at it.

Ming also notes that the media still call it "Twitter" so that anyone has any idea what they are talking about.

There's conversation about creating a disambiguation page at X.com (T-H-L), but I think it'd be useless because everyone is just gonna search "twitter".

Elon Musk’s X Corp. seen taking down giant glowing sign in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO — Elon Musk marked San Francisco as the spot for X Corp. over the weekend, erecting a giant lighted X sign on top of the company’s headquarters Friday.

On Monday, CNBC saw workers dismantling the glowing X, removing its lights and an arm of the letter, after the construction drew criticism from neighbors and city officials. By 1 p.m., the sign had been removed from the roof.

The Center for Countering Digital Hate (T-H-L), a group that tracks online hate speech, is being sued by x.

The Guardian: When we held up a mirror to Elon Musk’s Twitter/X he tried to sue us into silence

Meanwhile, Elon Musk says he will pay the legal fees of anyone treated unfairly by their employers because of things they post on x.

BBC: Elon Musk says X will fund legal bills if users treated unfairly by bosses

Washington Post:

Elon Musk’s X is throttling traffic to websites he dislikes
The company formerly known as Twitter on Tuesday slowed the speed with which users could access links to the New York Times, Facebook and other news organizations and online competitors, a move that appeared targeted at companies that have drawn the ire of owner Elon Musk.

Users who clicked a link on Musk’s website, now called X, for one of the targeted websites were made to wait about five seconds before seeing the page, according to tests conducted Tuesday by The Washington Post.

The delayed websites included X’s online rivals Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky and Substack, as well as the Reuters wire service and the Times. All of them have previously been singled out by Musk for ridicule or attack.
Classic Elon!
