After raising $6 million in funding, the startup Augment is making prestigious business education globally accessible through offering a program taught by renowned tech founders.
Program professors include Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia, Steve Chen, founder of YouTube, and Chris Barton, founder of Shazam, who bring first-hand entrepreneurial experience to the classroom.
The edtech company’s MBA blends the flexibility of online learning with the sought-after elements of full-time MBA programs, which includes prioritizing a strong alumni network and a breadth of career opportunities.
The first cohort reached more than 500 members from all continents.
“Our ambition is to offer a credible, flexible, and practical business education that matches the excellence of schools such as Harvard and Stanford. Augment's vision is to set a new standard for online MBAs, making high-quality business universally accessible,” says Ariel Renous, co-founder, and CEO of Augment.
With its new funding, the Paris-based company will strengthen its MBA curriculum through new, specialized classes, as well as investing in its community offering.
The average duration of the Augment MBA is four months and costs $1,750.

I wonder how much he discusses what is probably his most successful actual business venture, Bomis (T-H-L) and how it became successful via pornography. My guess is that he completely glosses over it.

I know that people here like to make fun of Jimbo. Sometimes I think we go a little far. In this case, however, I almost laughed out loud when I watched the video and the text "LEARN FROM THE BEST IN BUSINESS" came on. Whatever else you might say about him, I don't think anyone considers him to be "one of the best in business". He has managed to turn his success with Wikipedia into a career of speaking engagements but that's about it.
