A big vote of confidence in T&S, thenA very small portion of the responses also suggest that some communities are not opposed to the idea of T&S playing some role in the overall enforcement process.

Makes you wonder what the confidence level is for each "department" within the WMF.

Why is Xeno (Xeno_(WMF) (T-C-L)), who is a wmf employee and the "Universal Code of Conduct Facilitator", allowed to remain anonymous?

It's probably a role account. Different people do some work on it as and when they have nothing better to do.

Re: Universal code of conduct
He was an enwiki bureaucrat and arbitrator Xeno (T-C-L). From the latter role he resigned to become a CoC facilitator before his WMF account was created. I haven't seen any mention of him being put on the payroll of WMF. Do you think that happened in secrecy?

His user page says he works for the foundation, but doesn't say if he's compensated. Maybe he's doing it out of the goodness of his heart.

Re: Universal code of conduct
Sorry, I didn't realise that a sarcasm tag was needed for such obvious foolishness. There is no reason to think it is a role account since it is used by the same person who uses the Xeno (T-C-L) account. I assume that he is being paid, just like other WMF representatives. It is a bit odd that he doesn't identify himself, but when has that ever been a red flag? (hint: every time. Every single time.)Poetlister wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 8:38 pmWhen I said that it was a role account, Mr Zoloft objected.Giraffe Stapler wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 8:06 pmIt's probably a role account that all the WMF workers who aren't getting paid use...

Re: Universal code of conduct
Xeno being in the employ of the WMF as part of this process is a good thing. He knows what it is actually like to work in these areas. And they've now announced the "Phase 2 drafting committee" link and Barkeep49 (T-C-L) is on it. I wasn't able to make it, but they also hosted a "functionaries summit" about this on Zoom last week. They seem to actually want to listen for once, or at least look like they are listening.

Message from Xeno.
The Universal Code of Conduct project facilitation team will be
hosting round-table discussions [1] for Wikimedians to talk together
about how to enforce the Universal Code of Conduct [2] on 15 May 2021
at 15:00 UTC and 29 May 2021 at 15:00 UTC.
The calls will last between 60 and 90 minutes, and will include a 5-10
minute introduction about the purpose of the call, followed by
structured discussions using the key enforcement questions [3]. The
ideas shared during the calls will be shared with the committee
working to draft an enforcement policy [4]. Please sign up ahead of
time to join [5]. In addition to these calls, input can still be
provided on the key questions on Meta in any language [3].

UCoC if you want to...
TIL: Joking about Godwin's Law (T-H-L) officially violates the UCoC.
Lying about stuff is A-OK... as long as you remain polite!Dear Wikimedians,
The pseudonymous list subscriber "hillbillyholiday" is on moderation.
This is an opportunity to re-iterate that the Universal Code of Conduct[1]
applies to all Wikimedia spaces, including mailing lists hosted on the
Wikimedia servers, like this one. Asserting, even indirectly ("anyone")
that one's interlocutor is a Nazi, violates the UCoC, and will not be
tolerated.
Long-time subscribers know we tolerate a lot of criticism of projects,
plans, and opinions on this list -- even *unfounded* criticism -- provided
it is *civil* and compliant with behavior expectations.
Please refrain from further violations of the UCoC, but by all means
continue to disagree with each other and to express criticism.

I don't know who he is. His manner led me to believe he represented the WMF in some capacity.
Someone who downplays the danger of far-right activism within education is either ignorant or some kind of nazi themselves.

I'm thinking there's at least a 75% chance that Asaf Bartov doesn't even know what "Godwin's Law" is, or that the Mike Godwin on the mailing list is the same Mike Godwin who invented it.
I'm being generous, of course — there's obviously a 100% chance that Asaf Bartov has virtually no sense of humor whatsoever.
