Future of the forum if Wikipedia ever goes down

Unread post by Ognistysztorm » Wed Apr 05, 2023 4:11 am

Is there any plans for the future of this forum if Wikipedia ever goes down under for good for any reason (i.e. rise of replacements)? For example the forum could expand its scope to cover pretty much anything in the encyclo-verse.

Nothing formal... We wouldn't want to seem too presumptuous, but even in the unlikely event that Wikipedia does just disappear somehow, I suspect we'd want to at least keep most of this material available — if only for historical reference purposes. But of course, that's a rather presumptuous thing to say right there.

Web 3.0 etc is rich with creeps and duplicity. It would be one possible future to roll into covering this. Molly White has demonstrated this.

If Wikipedia does unexpectedly go down in a ball of flames one day, I suspect whatever happened will give us enough material to talk about for years.
Always improving...

I would assume that the perennial warriors in The Troubles, Isreal/Palestine and Holocaust areas would survive and carry on whichever fight they're involved in.
Hello, John. John, hello. You're the one soul I would come up here to collect myself.

I wrote a short story about a Disney executive being unfrozen and revived in 2099, and upon finding out that Earth (The Happiest Place in the Galaxy!) was now run by the Disney Corporation, asking about the Middle East.

"Oh, that was redeveloped into HolyLand™ and is one of our most popular destinations! We bring our most talented cast members in from around the world to give guests the best experience."
"Why not use the local inhabitants?"
"It's a destination, not a resort, nobody lives there."
"What happened to the local population?"
"It's not corporate to talk about that."
