Re: Wikipedia's most prolific editor

There are 7Bn people on the planet, so you can tell, not everyone has a Wikipedia page. All of them CAN have Everipedia pages. That's more original content than all of Wikipeida and Facebook put together. Why on earth would everybody want a Facebook or Wikipedia page? The very thought of Everipedia...

Re: Why is Wikipedia biased against women?

So is there actual rather than anecdotal evidence of bias against women. Every time I write something that is undone or changed I consider it bias against me personally and nobody on Wikipedia knows my gender. I don't think writing articles about women addresses Wikipedia's so-called gender problem....

Re: Is gender diversity a one-way street?

I think they've all been women for much the same reason that Britain has all-female shortlists for MPs, it's because they have to be seen to be doing something even if it risks not choosing the best person for the job.

Re: The great and powerful editor.

And.... While I'm all for addressing the gender gap, it would be much more ideal if it were women editors doing the writing, and not men editors doing the writing. It's part of the problem. I don't want 85% of the information filtered through a male scrim. It needs to be gender equal. Disagree 100%...

Re: Son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

The next time someone asks you if (you're like me) why the Wikipedia faithful are beyond hope, show them Son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge . My immediate reaction would be to ban the editors who contribute to this sort of tabloid trivia. The article itself has already been mentioned in over ...

I wouldn't describe editing Wikipedia as "fun".

Re: How personal is "personal" information?

I seem to recall a few times that Jimmy Wales has expressed horror and outrage over outside parties discussing anything to do with his daughter Kira. Why, then, is Jimbo sharing with a public group Kira's "online habits" ? Well that's obviously "Do as I say, not as I do" Also, why is Jimbo register...

Re: Wikimedia Fellow Wants To Bring More Women To WP

Many women prefer anonymity on the internet and I suspect lots of women don't reveal their gender on their WP profile.

Re: Wikimedia Fellow Wants To Bring More Women To WP

Most of the "high-profile" women editors in the project (SandyGeorgia etc.....) are older, close to retirement age type folks who could tolerate "newbie policy bs" more than regular editors. I think the project can, and should concentrate in bringing those type of editors to contribute to the proje...

Re: One Year of Wikipediocracy

I only discovered Wikipediocracy (great name by the way) recently and then it was advertised :D in Wikipedia's Signpost.

I won't be posting much but I do enjoy reading. Happy birthday & many happy returns.
