No, the argument was that in this case the earlier meaning had no convenient alternative word to express it whereas the later meaning did. I see no-one there making any argument based on the meaning being the original as opposed to the more recent. I do recall myself making an argument based on formal registers and on the danger of confusion in using the word in two different ways in one encyclopaedia.

It is of course perfectly possible for succession boxes to become inconsistent if not updated in tandem. It would presumably be possible for the WMF developers to devise some clever piece of code that could be used to keep them all compatible. Somebody should ask for it.

Thanks -- it seems that this source is using the word "dead" to agree with the Dead mall (T-H-L). But the contradiction remains, and one of the two articles at least was going to turn out to be wrong.

At one stage I seem to recall the identification consisted of a member of staff reading the document and then destroying it. That would certainly account for the same person getting through twice under different pseudonyms.
